Hello Members and Friends,

Just got back from my visit to Ontario for my youngest grandson’s high school graduation. Fun trip for me but I know I have a touch of jet lag – I am waking at 4 a.m.

On Sunday, July 12th we are joining the Brown Creek community at the Brown Creek Community Hall to enjoy a potluck supper and an “Antiques Roadshow” – home style. Diane from Luv this Stuff will be our resident expert, and she is hoping to have support from another antiques dealer. Bring your favourite antiques – the ones you love and are willing to share with us. Diane will offer her opinion. We are hoping to start the “show” at 3 p.m. or so. It would be good to arrive at 2:30ish to get your treasures set up. The antiques will be inside the community hall and supper outside in the pavilion at 5ish. James Price offered the use of a refrigerator if we need one for our food. Hope to see lots of our membership in attendance. Brown Creek Community Hall is located at 2990 Brown Creek Road East.

On July 18th we will be attending Greenwood’s Founders’ Day. We will be located at member Len Lobsinger’s Dundee Triangle at 497 Dundee Avenue. He will have a number of vendors in attendance including a food truck. The City of Greenwood is managing Founders’ Day this year, and they required us to have event insurance, adding them as a co-insured. Len kindly offered his space to us. We will see what next year brings but we are happy and grateful for Len’s invitation.

Lane and Mickey continue to work on our website. Our domain name was renewed, and we should be copacetic now. We can take donations on site by using Canada Helps. Lane keeps our calendar up to date so you can always check there for important dates for the BHS.

I have not heard from Joe Barrett about the fence at the main Phoenix Cemetery and the Upper. I will have time now to check in with him. Following our last Wednesday meeting, I drove up to the cemetery to check the back road and see if it is drivable. The Boundary Woodworkers would like to bring the new picket fences in that way. It looked good – a couple of small pine trees but they are easily removed or driven over. I stopped in at the Artisan’s Gallery and Jakki and Tony were there. Al gave us an order for twenty of Al Donnelly’s “Greenwood Comes Alive” books. Al Donnelly would be so pleased to have a “best seller.”

Jakki is arranging the purchase of larch planks from Rolf Hieberg for the cemetery markers we are having engraved at the Artisans Market. We are purchasing some extras and Jakki and Tony are willing to store them. Still hoping to get them in place before winter comes around again.

A heads up that our Annual Picnic will take place on Sunday, August, 16th. Keep that date on your calendar and I will send an invitation around. We will provide hot dogs, potato chips, condiments, goodies, lemonade, and coffee. A fun few hours at Gladys’ cabin at Jewel Lake and we are hoping for a guest speaker. The picnic will run from 11:00 – 2:00. Remember to bring a lawn chair, we have some extras, but they are old, so no guarantees come with them. I can renew your membership then if necessary.

Just now received a note that our Reports are now online at https://bcrdh.ca/bcrdh/bhs. The site was migrated and is now in business again.

We do not have a meeting in July, but our next regular meeting is on Wednesday, August 19th – Boundary Woodworkers’ building -1:00 pm. You are most welcome to attend.
