December 1, 2025
Hello Members and Friends,
Isn’t this snow today totally appropriate – first day of December and the ground is a little bit white!! Only about 22 days and the days will start getting longer again!! What a wonderful long fall it has been with the larch holding onto their needles to give us a golden glow on those cloudy days.
We are so sad and so sorry to let you know that our dear friend, Frank Talarico, passed away just recently. He was such a kind and good man and will be dearly missed by so many. Frank found time to help this community in so many ways – we will miss his guidance and his enthusiasm for everything historical. Frank was working with Jakki on the new head markers when he fell ill. We will continue to work on these new markers – it just will not be as easy. Frank’s funeral will be held at 11 am on Saturday, December 6th at Sacred Heart Church in Grand Forks.

We held our November meeting at the Woodworkers building – thanks always to them for lending us their home for an hour or so. I forgot to ask the Directors for permission to contract the Woodworkers for four new picket frames for Phoenix cemetery. We need one in front of where we originally placed Hazel Mary Clayton’s plaque. To my distinct surprise the outline of a grave – not her’s – appeared last spring. Would like to put a 12-inch frame around it and there are a couple of graves that need defining. I will check with the Directors at our annual Christmas get together this month. We will also discuss a donation in memory of Frank.
Two Christmas craft fairs to attend on November 29th! Jakki and Tony Fryer headed to Grand Forks Secondary for their festive craft fair, and I drove out to Greenwood. Both fairs were very well attended. Between the three of us we brought in $575.00. One more craft fair to go. I will be at Rock Creek on December 6th. Our sales continue to be good. We are definitely hoping to have Report #19 available for sale next Christmas.

Wishing you all a wonderful Christmas holiday season and all the best in 2026.
Our first meeting in 2026 will be on January 21,2026. Everyone welcome.
